Requirements

Always attentive to updating production technologies, Mollificio Lombardo needed further to improve production efficiency from an Industry 4.0 perspective

Mollificio Lombardo required to integrate to the existing MES system a new solution capable of interacting with the various protocols of machine suppliers and obtaining, through a simple graphical representation, the trend of the main production KPI (in particular OEE).

For the project's development, it was essential that the integration be with the MES system already in use in the company, with the protocols of the various machine suppliers, and that it be easy to implement so as not to hinder production. Working with Deda Bit, the company recognized PTC's ThingWorx Manufacturing Apps and Kepware as the most suitable technology.

The results

The system was up and running in just seven days, allowing production managers to track activities and identify problems accurately in real-time. Mollificio Lombardo chose to expand the interface design to include more machinery with the goal of monitoring more production processes. In addition, the data generated and stored by the new system can be used to anticipate any critical issues during production processes or to refine maintenance planning.
